8th Grade
Class Time:
Wednesday, 6:00-7:15 pm
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the final year of preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. This is a big year in the faith life of your student. In the second year of preparation, our main focus in our classes is on morality. Students are expected to regularly attend classes, attend the three Candidate/Sponsor Meetings, complete a retreat, and perform service projects. They will also be responsible for writing a letter to the Abbot and a paper on the patron saint they have chosen for their Confirmation name. Information regarding the dates of these requirements is available below and will be sent home regularly with the Candidates.
We look forward to working with your students and appreciate your support of the program.

Confirmation
Information regarding the final year of preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation will be given at the Parent Session to be held on a date to be determined in the Parish Hall. The date of Confirmation will be given to you as soon as it is published from the Archbishop's office. All questions or concerns regarding Confiramtion shoudl be directed to Peggy Schrick, 338.4367, or e-mail her at

Each candidate is required to have a sponsor during this very important year of faith development. This person may not be a parent as parents are sponsors 24/7 throughout the life of their child. A sponsor must be a baptized, confirmed, practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and at least 18 years of age. The sponsor is asked to attend the three Candidate/Sponsor sessions held on assigned Sundays before Confirmation.
Notes
Arrival and Dismissal
7th and 8th graders are to use the cafeteria doors for coming and going. Please be cautious on the parking lots. There are many activities in the gym during our class times. When picking up students please pull forward to the gym doors so that several cars can load at the same time. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
Attendance at Class
Attendance is most important for this two year process. We have gathered wonderful resources and catechists. Our effort is to assist you in bringing up your children as Catholic and their need to know Christ. Missing classes and/or leaving early puts restrictions on this. Please try to save an hour and fifteen minutes each week for religion classes.
