Basketball

All children of the parish, grades 3-8, who are interested in playing basketball may play CYO basketball. Registration and evaluation schedule will be posted closer to the season, typically October/November. 

Note: All CYO participants are encouraged to have a physical prior to participating in any CYO sport. If your child has obtained a physical for a Fall 2020 sport, another physical is NOT required. 

Participation

Registration is open to all parish families, it is not necessary to attend Nativity Parish School to participate. All children of the parish are welcome.

Note regarding siblings in the same grade: It is not possible to honor requests to have siblings on the same team. However, they can be on the same team if:  1) it is objectively determined through the tryout process (based on skill), or 2) after teams are formed, the student on the higher-level team chooses to move down to his or her sibling’s lower-level team.

Required Uniforms and Equipment

Players will need to purchase the required CYO uniform. Instructions for purchase will be provided at the first practice. Players are encouraged to wear their uniforms to the evaluations. If they are new to the program, a jersey will be provided. 

 
Practice

Practice is held twice a week beginning in mid-November through the first week of March. Attendance should be considered a priority. 

Games

Games are played on Friday evenings or Saturday’s December through March. Once determined, the schedule will be posted on the CYO website. Attendance is mandatory. 

Coaching

Parent volunteers are needed and each must be VIRTUS-trained prior to having any contact with the team. Two coaches are needed for each team.
